Volvo India will launch the V90 Cross Country in India tomorrow. This vehicle is the station wagon or the estate version of the S90 sedan, now available in the Indian market.
The Swedish carmaker has already taken into account the fact that estates and such body styles have not worked in India. So they have increased this vehicle’s ground clearance to be able to take the rough patches and broken roads with ease. It carries forward the S90’s design language, styling and packs all the features from the sedan. In addition, it comes equipped with an AWD system as standard.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country is powered by the brand’s 2.0-litre D5 diesel engine that churns out 235bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. It comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This is seen in the S90 sedan as well, but here it is tuned to offer better off-road capabilities.
Volvo says that the V90 Cross Country should appeal to Indian buyer’s tastes as it provides the practicality of an estate, the luxury of a sedan and the ground clearance of an SUV. Even if this a product from a niche segment, an aggressive pricing of Rs 60 lakhs should be good enough to woo customers who are looking for an all-rounder.
