England women’s left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone will not take part in the remainder of the India series (the last ODI and the three T20Is) as well as the following tour of Sri Lanka (three ODIs and three T20Is) from March 16 due to a broken hand.

Ecclestone is said to have sustained the injury in the warm-up before the second ODI against India but was still picked to play in that fixture. India have already pocketed the series 2-0 heading into the final game on February 28 at the Wankhede in Mumbai. The T20I series will begin from March 4.

England are expected to name a replacement after the third ODI on Thursday. For the T20Is, England have another left-arm spinner – Linsey Smith – in the squad. Before they head to Sri Lanka though, they will hope for the return of Laura Marsh – who was originally in the squad for the India tour but missed the two ODIs due to a side strain.
